What is Long Term Co-op?
Students typically spend 12 to 16 consecutive months working in a paid engineering position prior to the last year of their Bachelor of Engineering Science (BESc) program. Long Term Co-op provides a more extensive experience than Summer Co-op, which ensures that students are able to work on advanced projects, seeing them through from beginning to end.
Why should you participate?

Who can participate?
- Be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative average of 60%.
- No scholastic/academic offences.
- Full-time undergraduate engineering students currently enrolled in their 2nd last year of their degree program.
- Returning to Western Engineering for the next scheduled academic term (full-time) following their co-op.
- *Students registered with Accessible Education are considered full-time if enrolled in 40% of a full-time course load. Please advise us by emailing wecareer@uwo.ca if you are registered with Accessible Education and have been approved for a reduced course load.
What is the enrollment process?
- Internship information sessions occur annually in the Fall Term.
- Submit annual Application Fee Payment on Engineering Ecommerce Site.
- Online registration begins September 5, 2024 on Western Connect.
What are the costs?
- Annual application fee is $125 Dollars (payable when you apply).
- Co-op tuition is $550 Dollars for every four month work term.
