Go ENG Girl at Western University
What is Go ENG Girl?
Go ENG Girl is an exciting opportunity for Grade 7-10 girls, including all youth who identify as girls and non-binary, to learn about the wonderful world of engineering.
Participants are able to learn from women professionals, academics and students as well as enjoy fun, hands-on activities, informative parents' sessions

Go ENG Girl is back in-person this year! Join us Saturday, October 1st in London at Western University or Saturday, October 22nd in Sarnia at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.

Participants in London must follow Western University's COVID-19 safety and vaccination protocols. As of October 1, 2022, all visitors on campus are required to provide proof of vaccination of the primary series (generally, two doses total) of any combination of COVID-19 vaccines recognized by Health Canada.
Participants in Sarnia will not be asked for proof of vaccination.

2022 Keynote Speakers:
This year we are welcoming Yara Hosein as our 2022 Go ENG Girl Keynote Speaker in London and Abbey Slawich as our 2022 Go ENG Girl Keynote Speaker in Sarnia.
Yara Hosein (PhD, Biomedical Engineering) is a proud Western alumna, passionate about utilizing her engineering skills for the improvement of patient care. With over 5 years of experience within the medical devices industry, Yara applies critical analysis and problem solving towards the development of safe and effective devices for clinical use.
As a Senior Process Engineer with the New Product Introduction group at Baylis Medical/Boston Scientific, Yara contributes to the development and launch of cardiology products by implementing new manufacturing processes for successful device production. Prior to that role, Yara worked in the area if medical additive manufacturing, utilizing metal and plastic 3D-printing for production of personalized orthopaedic and dental devices.
Outside of work Yara enjoys mentoring and volunteering for STEM initiatives. She is enthusiastic about promoting diversity within STEM so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy and contribute to the exciting, innovative, and fulfilling disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math!
Abbey Slawich (BSc, Electrical Engineering) is a recent graduate of the Western Engineering Class of 2022. During her time at Western, she was an Ambassador for the Faculty of Engineering, and the VP Outreach of the Women in Engineering club. Abbey completed a 12-month co-op with NOVA Chemicals during her time at Western, and she is currently working as an Electrical Engineer in Training at NOVA Chemicals.
As an Electrical Engineer in Training with the Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering team at NOVA Chemicals, Abbey contributes to the design of electrical systems, the reliability of key assets, and is getting experience working on the AST2 growth project.
Outside of work, Abbey is passionate about supporting Women in Engineering Outreach programs in efforts to diversify the engineering community.
