High School Co-op

Western Engineering offers placements for high school students looking to complete their co-op credit within our four engineering departments.

How does it work?

Eligible high school students are able to inquire about potential co-op placements up to a year in advance of their placements. We highly recommend contacting us early as we only have a few co-op placements available each year.

After an initial screening process, high school students are matched with a faculty member for their co-op placement – in some cases the high school student will interview with the faculty member to ensure that the placement is what they are looking for.

Once the co-op is approved, the co-op student is put in contact with the associated engineering department and is provided with all the necessary paperwork and training in order to start the co-op. Our Outreach department checks in with our co-op students each month to ensure that everything is going well.
